BAE Audio 1073MP Dual. In my opinion, cluttered studios are a thing of the past. The 1073DMP's iconic sound is thanks to the Carnhill / St. Ives transformers as used in the original Neve module as well as BAE… It’s just incredible. After several preamp shoot outs on the years, BAE never fails to hold the top position year after year. The bottom end seems slightly 'enhanced' from a harmonics point of view, adding a warm, musical richness, while the mid‑range is strong and confident and the top end has a lovely smooth silkiness to it: Mr Neve's infamous 'sheen'. Which is what I want! This thing is spectacular. I couldn't imagine my studio without them. And the 1073's renowned 3-band EQ section can enhance anything. It would make more sense, perhaps, to mark the filter frequencies on the opposite side of the knob, where they wouldn't clash with the gain‑control markings.
